March 20: Eight (Chapter Ten)
Today’s assignment from Tricia
Read chapter ten and come up with your list of “eight.” Then write down those eight themes on a pretty piece of paper and post it somewhere you’ll see it often (bathroom mirror, refrigerator, bulletin board, etc.). Then take a picture of it and post it on your blog.
Tried to upload my pretty paper , have to share later !
So after reading chapter 10 and thinking and praying on this, here is my Eight Life Themes as I see them Today. I didn’t see them while on life’s journey, but I have arrived at these 8 ! I loved this assignment, I started it not knowing what I could put on my list. Where had life taken me ? I started writing my own life story and I think it will have to be written in more then one book as I have been asked of the Lord to share to help others and to hopefully bring honor to the Lord. That is the goal !
My Eight Life Themes
1. Don’t Let Rape Ruin You !
2. Joy found in Teen Pregnancy !
3. Delight After Divorce !
4. Abused but NOT Abandoned !
5. I am married to MARK, NOT Mental Illness !
6. Home a place of Harmony and Happiness !
7. Don’t let a less than perfect Marriage, Rob your Merry Heart !
8. Facing the Bareness of Menopause: Becoming the Joyful Mother of Grandchildren !
Each one of these things has been dealt with in my life and I want them to be challenges I overcame, not things that hindered me from living fully ! I have come along this path, sometimes by my own unwise choices, but I know that God can use All Things for my own good and hopefully he can use those things to the good of others as well.
As I write, I will have to remember to come here and share with my readers, those insights and blessings to be found along the way.

March 19: Inspiration and Relaxation (Chapter Nine)
Here was today’s assignment from Tricia
Give your mind a rest and a dose of good, old-fashioned inspiration. Carve out some time today to implement one of my tips about finding inspiration and enjoy the feeling of creativity. Then come up with your own list of ways you can find inspiration.
1. Reading Bible. Daily getting into the Word encourages ! Do so with a great women’s study !
2. Pray. Pour your heart out to the Lord ! Pray for others ! Doing so brings much peace.
3. Read good biblically based women’s studies. This is an awesome way to start you day or to enjoy just a few spare moments in your day !
4. Follow and Read Godly Women’s blogs and websites. I know this makes me feel wonderful.
5. Take up a creative Hobby. ie. Crocheting, Fiber Arts, Drawing, Quilting, Sewing, Baking , whatever you enjoy.
6. Listen to Uplifting Music. Music feeds the soul if it is the right music and makes you feel happy !
7. Put up inspiring Art Work in your Home. Wall Art, Bible verses. Decorate with little things in each room that you like.
8. Sing, sing and sing some more ! Singing lifts your spirits and creates a happy peaceful feeling.
9. Have fellowship with other women who encourage and inspire you ! Attend a womens conference on Joy, Love or whatever ! Like Just Joy Ministries with Carol McLeod !
10. Take time out to enjoy being you ! Sit and enjoy your favorite drink and just think and relax ! Read your favorite books or do lunch with a friend , even your Dear Husband to have fun.
God can and will restore your JOY and he will inspire you to go on to do great and awesome things ! When we have the Lord Jesus, we can accomplish anything that we seek to do within God’s will for our lives !

March 18: Make Today Amazing (Chapter Eight)
Today, I have taken your advice Tricia. I spent almost all day in my diningroom. It sits on the south side of the house and gets all he sun and today it is sunny big time. I needed sun. It makes me feel so much happier and my desk is out here to work at. It decorated in light slate blue on bottom and a nice ribbon wallpaper with blue and yellow flowers on it. I enjoy this room because it has a bright and cheery atmosphere.
I also asked DH if he had any plans ! Girl you should have known that was a dangerous question, At least we are like minded ! Tonight is in house date night ! I wonder if I change the clocks if we can fake the kids out and have some alone time ! LOL Don’t tell me you have never set the clocks ahead to fake your kids out and get them to bed sooner… If not , see if you can get an extra hour or two of alone time.
I do feel better today and the house has been more peaceful today !
I am thankful for My Salvation, My Family, My Sisters who bless me and so much more.
Today the girls and I looked at a website they wanted to look at and play on.
Today, I helped a Sister with a slight website problem, I am glad she isn’t paniced anymore. I talked to another friend who is thinking about homeschooling and encouraged her.
Twice Today I was told I am an angel and that I bless others, that is a nice feeling to be able to give to others from the heart and not expect anything in return.
But I have to admit to being allowed by Three Authors today to read , review and influence for them. I always feel good about blessing my Sisters in the Lord who write and my brothers too !
March 17: Teamwork (Chapter Seven)
Many hands make light work !
Boy did I hear that alot when I was a kid. It was not a foreign concept to us growing up that we were to help.
For whatever reason kids today seem to think that they don’t have to do work or any kind.
That to me is sad as it makes for a home that doesn’t run well at all. You need two parents willing to make
this work, otherwise your beating a dead horse.
My DH keeps our fire going and helps with the Dishes and Laundry.
My Daughters are in charge of the Floors and all general cleanup and dishes part
of the time. They also get to take turns baking and cooking , if they have listened about doing those other things that
You know I keep saying ” if you don’t make a mess, you won’t have to clean it up”
someday they will get the picture.
Daniel helps me with putting silverware away and cleaning up his things. I have to admit that he does a
much better job then the girls when it comes to being helpful to me. I don’t know about you all, but to me
boys seem so much easier to raise then girls.
We have had to have family meetings often as no one wants to keep up things when I am having physical issues.

Day 6 Balanced Challenge
March 16: Do What You Can (Chapter Six)
Well today was amazing ! I woke up and my headache was gone ! Praise the Lord !
I have been Detoxing this is Day 4 of my detox ! I had been suffering horrible headaches while doing this. I have to
say that I am thankful that the headaches are gone.
I got right up, my lungs clear for a change and my head not in a fog or pain. I came down and started in cleaning up
from last nights late snacking. Dishes , straightening and Reading the Word.
Psalms 37:4 was on my heart.
Yesterday I had learned that I won a brand new 7″ Kindle Fire HDX and Yes I had prayed for it.
That might sound funny, but I did ! I so wanted to have one just for my own reading, since I use it for
reading and reviewing books ect . Also use it for apps that I review. Well since last year when I won my first
Kindle Fire , the kids have enjoyed it so much for Reading and Learning Apps as well as games,
I seldom get time on it.
So to me this is a blessing ! I also learned this morning I won a book that I really wanted to read and I was able to
have a very sweet talk with the Author.
Daily I am on what the Time Warp Wife calls a 10 min tidy !
I did one today in the Living Room as kids didn’t realize that they had knocked
over my yarn and crochet thread. So that took a mere 5 mins.
Folded Laundry while waiting for my tea water to heat.
Mixed my Detox while stacking dishes to be washed.
Cleaned up Bathroom while in doing my hair.
Took Laundry to the washroom on my way to get my Tea.
Brought my own laundry down to the washroom on my way to the kitchen.
Other then this I have spend my day working on a few pinterest boards and learning about an
Author I didn’t’ know well yet. I also read a bit today. All in my little bits of time.
I will admit that 10 mins here or there gets much done. I am trying to instill this in my
Childrens lives. We were able to get the girls room cleaned up this week most the way.
I wanted this done as I want to paint there room this spring !
The first time I head of small times of cleaning was when someone started us women
who were on a christian ladies list on yahoo, doing Flylady. I am not a flylady fan, but I do like the idea
of quick cleanups. I am off to do some more clean up. Oh, snapping a few sunset shots first !
Oh Tricia, I love The Naturally Clean Home, got that March 1st last year !
~ Linda ~
- Things I have to do ( caring for, feeding and homeschooling children)
- Things I should do (Dishes, Laundry, Cleaning, Fixing Food, Making sure Kids Bathe, Serving Others and Fellowship with other believers)
- Things I want to do ( My website w/blog (new), Read Books, Crochet, Quilt, Sew)
- Things I’m doing to “look good” or doing out of guilt (For me this is stop doing anything I enjoy and do what everyone else expects me to do)
I am going to be point blank honest. My van is dead, its been dead for over 4 months. I have not left my domain for 3 months, not even to shop.( I let my DH) I hate the rat race of running to do stuff all the time. I am here in the Home. To me that is a good thing. Most of the time its relaxing just to be home. I am not much on calendars, but I keep on for my blog/to do list. (I am working on this area) I have a binder I found that I truly think I am going to love and intend to use. I also have a blog planner I am intending to use. I like using things I can see at a glance. I would like to get one of those huge desk calendars that has 3×3 squares to write in for the day, so I can see all of it on that, but have it all written down in my planners into a combined large Binder. I want to have sections in my Binder for a Household planner, Homeschool planner and a Pantry planner. My favorite binders can be found at A Well Kept Home.
I was looking around for free ideas and came across this pinterest board today.
The one thing I still want to know is what calendar program your using Tricia ? Love the colors !
I tried Google Calendar and it just isn’t my thing, I suppose one day maybe it will be but for now I am one of those have to have it hardcopy type of girl !
I also am a rarely ever watch TV person ! I do tend to watch movies that are patterned after books I have read. Me time ? Whats that ? I don’t mind shopping but I have been too tired to do it myself. I do my own pedicures and manicures here at home. I would opt for more couple time !
I can’t wait till Spring is really here, the crocus are up and now they are saying snow again…
On day 3 of a detox, feeling like I got a nasty cold and headache…
Prayers Appreciated !
Day 4 : Believing GodDelight thyself also in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalms 37:4Believing and Trusting God in all things. I believe that I am called to many things in this life. I am here trusting him fully in everything to do with my life today. I came to know Jesus early in life, making a confession of faith at the age of 6 years old. I grew up in a ” christian ” home. Both my parents professing Christ. We did go to public school K- 2nd grade. After this I attended Faith Baptist Academy from 3rd to 7th grade. I learned so much about God and about his ways growing up. I am thankful for that solid foundation in the faith. Without it I would have been lost for eternity. Here are the things I believe I am called to.1. I am called as a born again believer to be conformed to the image of his Son Jesus.2. I am called to walk worthy of my calling.3. I am called to be a godly wife.4. I am called to be a godly mother.5. I am called to share my testimony of his saving grace through faith in God’s free gift of salvation.6. I am called I belive to write Poetry , Fiction and Non-Fiction.7. I am called to be creative in many various art forms, drawing, sewing, quilting, crocheting. Not necessarily in that order but fairly close to it.I believe that he has given me everything needed to accomplish all these things I am called to do and I know that if I delight myself in Him, he will give to me the desires of my heart.~ Linda ~
Balanced by Tricia GoyerDay 3How I can try to involve my kids in my work !I really had to give this some thought and it sure helps to read how others are doing this. I have 3 children at home DD 11, DD 10 and DS 6. The writing I am doing right now for a book I really cannot include them in as it is part of my life experiences as a young woman going through a teen pregnancy. So, if I cannot involve them I try to find things for them to do while I am busy writing. They like to do arts and craft projects, so drawing or anther art project can be done. When I can involve them in my writing I will seek to do the following things.1. Have them help me with research on the areas needed.2. Bring them with me to gather information or things needed.3. Bring them with me to events.4. My girls love to draw, so they can illustrate some for me.5. While I work they love to bake, cook and fix special foods for us.6. I can have them help me prepare for get togethers we have here in our home.I will be honest to say that at times they truly bless me in fixing the food or cleaning for me. It is truly for our whole family. I find some chores and household things hard to do now. Since 2001 when I had an accident my back, neck and leg issues have gotten worse. So standing, bending, lifting and squatting are very hard for me.Even my hands give me fits as the Dr says I have tendonitis, so typing this isn’t comfortable but I press on. I am feeling a strong calling on my heart for sharing those things that the Lord has brought me through. It is truly a way that I can share my life and heart with others and bring glory to the Lord. It is a strong calling, for years the Lord has been saying ” Lin, share what I have done for you”. There is so much the Lord has done for me in my life. It is Him who receives all the glory and honor for what he has done for me.This year I want to get my girls writing more and I have been looking at ideas everyone else has out there, journaling ( I so wish I had journaled all my life) Think of all the notes that I would have by now to share with my girls)I have long admired those who have the ability to share by writing, as i never considered myself a writer. But here I am writing a book. I had written a few poems in the past and love poetry, but never thought on writing a book till last year. And here I am speedbo participant 2014. I am at 7500 words so far !~ Linda ~
~ Day 2 ~
~ So here we are on Day 2 of The Balanced Challenge. I believe today’s assignment was to organize our office, study area, desk, calendar. I keep telling myself that I am going to go get a larger calendar or use one on my PC. So far I have not done that and with the rate its snowing, I am staying in today, tomorrow and I might as well hibernate for the rest of this winter season. Were having a blizzard and My desk upstairs is in a sad state of repair. I will get it sorted and organized soon. The bedroom where my office area is, well its under construction. Its being revamped. We decided to rip out all that lathe and plaster. We have sheetrocked the whole room and it needs sanding, priming and painting. DH won’t go for any painting till we can open all the windows and let fresh air in. So that is on hold for now but I am telling you when its nice out and that room is painted, well I will be redoing my built in desk bookselves up there so that I can work on things early in morning before the children get up.
~ Now Calendar, we can talk about that. Tricia said share pictures…lol OK its crazy and I should use my blog planner I have to do that stuff. I have most everything here for making a household planner ect and fully intend to do that this year.
Very messy as it is a small calendar, so here is where I need to improve. When I get my desk done, I plan on one of those desktop huge calendars with large squares I can write in all my dates for things. I am also planning to do a blog planner and a household planner , maybe even a pantry planner. Lots of room for improvement here. I do like Google Calendar on my pc, but I really need to learn how to use it better. I have a sweet author friend who gave me different colored pens, so I am thinking that these will work well to use in a calendar/planner in the near future. Also highlighters too…such a thoughtful gift ! I am not ready to share the desk that were building in just yet, I cannot paint it till we finish the bedroom this spring/summer. Yes I wish I was totally organized, but for now this is where I am at.
I will admit that Tricia’s book Balanced, Women Living Well and a few other books like Organizing your Prayer Closet are wonderful books to get you started in Living a balanced, organized life.
