We received three electronic books, A Boy, and His Dog,  Dying is Part of This World, and Don’t Forget Me from Kayla Jarmon for our review.
A Boy and His Dog Cover-01

A Boy and His Dog
You have heard folks say ” A Boy and His Dog! ”  This book shows the close friendship and relationship of both.  My husband is a dog person really can relate to this and we often have talks about our Dogs and our past pets we have had and loved.

This book was so cute!  It shows what a sweet loving and fun relationship he has with his dog and how they do everything together, even bath together and the dog even sleeps on his bed.  Daniel enjoyed this book, in our home, we have dogs whose names are Baby and Konike. Baby is our Great Pryensse and Konike is our Black Lab/Retriever mix who is chocolate colored.  Daniel knows that having a dog means more than just feeding and watering, it comes with expense and responsibility.

Dying is Part of This World Cover-01

Dying Is Part of This World
Everyone has to deal with this subject and it seems that we all struggle with this topic. This thoughtfully written book shares about the fear of death. There are scripture references and discussion questions to provoke great conversation and prayer. With God’s knowledge and wisdom, you can overcome the fear of death and live a victorious life! Christ has conquered death! Amen

Dying is Part of This World was sorta a needed thing for us, so getting to read this was very helpful.  We lost my Dad a year ago May 25th, on my birthday. This was hard for me, but Daniel came to NY with me and we saw him the day before he passed. Since Daniel has had questions, this made it easier for me to share my belief on this without the worry of my emotions taking over.  We could just read this book and talk about death in general. We know that my Dad is in heaven with God and having this book reaffirm this helped us a lot. At the end of each chapter is discussion questions for us to use and talk about. Really great book if your trying to share this with your children and have lost someone close to you.

Don't Forget Me Cover-01

Don’t Forget Me
Don’t Forget Me depicts a conversation between God and the Baby through pregnancy and birth. It will bring emotions and maybe even a tear to your eyes, as you are reminded that God is the author and giver of life. A perfect gift for expectant parents and siblings!

This book is meant to be used in the Christian Home. The Discussion Book Series encourages great discussions with discussion questions and Scripture references. This book is aimed at family discussion or even a woman’s bible study or teen girls class on marriage and pregnancy!

Since Daniel is my baby, I read this one myself.  This is the most Thoughtful and Encouraging book. Not just for children but for anyone expecting a baby.  It would be a great book to read to your children if you are expecting to share the biblical worldview of God being there from conception, birth and beyond.  I loved how it showed the love of God for the child, the love of the mother for her child and also the love of the father for the mother and for the Lord. The illustrations are so sweet and portray just how it is from the womb and it gives a very thoughtful and modest way of showing what happens in birth.  This book touched my heart even as a mom who has had many a miscarriage and it really should be in the church and the home. I love the verses in the back of the book that we can use to share God’s word with our children on conception, development, and birth.  I really love this book!

I hope you will consider these books for your children and your home. Also, consider getting this for your church when it is available in paperback or audio. I would so highly encourage Don’t Forget Me, for a teen group or a pre-marriage class.   All of these books are so well illustrated and very well written.

Wow, Your a Repeated Failure ?

13700089_10154381696333147_3724955174659827704_n

How to Attain Excellence

Yesterday, I talked about the Definition of Excellence and How it is Measured  by the world, the church and by others and perhaps even by you, but also how God measures it.

To Fail Repeatedly, is how we learn and how we succeed !

So in reality while you think you are a failure, you are learning and learning is not something we fail at. You may not have met up to someone else’s standard… but who’s standard are we really needing to meet up to ?  God’s….and yet we pressure our selves or allow others to pressure us to the point we give up or we become ill physically, emotionally or mentally.

“Stress” what happens when we allow things to trouble us…

So how do we attain or excel in  “Excellence” ?

Consider the following verses…

Romans 12:1-2,  tells us we are to present our bodies as a living sacrifice , holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is good, and acceptable and perfect ,will of God.

James 1:27, tells us that Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and the widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted  from the world.

I John 2: 15-17,  tells us Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.  For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust of thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

Wow, that sort of simplified things , can you see it ?

How can we know God’s Will, unless we follow the ways in which he says to life !

The Bible is a great instruction manual !!!

We will reserve discussing roles in the Family & Home for another day….

Let’s look again at Ruth and see how she attained ” Excellence” and why she was considered ” A Woman of Excellence”.

In Ruth 3:11 these are the character traits I personally see in her…

She has strength, She is worthy, She is brave and She is capable.   She was also Bold, unafraid or fearless and the important part is she waited upon the Lord to show her what to do and for Him to provide for her.

Proverbs 12:4   Tells us, A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband.

Virtuous : having or showing high moral standards.

synonyms: righteous, good, pure, whiter than white, saintly, angelic, moral, ethical, upright,upstanding, high-minded, principled, exemplarylaw-abiding, irreproachable,blameless, guiltless, unimpeachable, immaculate, honest, honorable, reputable,laudable, decent, respectable, noble, worthy, meritorious;

informal squeaky clean “they were entirely virtuous in their endeavors”

archaic: Chaste

( I like looking at words and definitions as it gives us a better view of knowing what things mean and who we should be )

Proverbs 31:10  says ” Who can find a virtuous woman ? for her price is far above rubies.

She displays all those noble characteristics and this makes her of great value !

Who are you trying to please anyway ?

I Corinthians 10: 31  says ” Whether  therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do , do all to the glory of God”.

Philippians 1: 9-11 says ” And this I pray, that your love  may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgement; That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ; Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of  God.”

Philippians 4:8 says ” Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. “

We are to be pleasing God !

You might not get all your To Do List Done…

Your day may not have gone perfectly, but that is perfectly normal !

You should be redeeming the Time, not wasting it .  This past year I started using a planner. For Home & Business, it has helped me greatly to see what I am doing and how much time I am spending on doing things. I am a Keeper at Home, Wife of a Man who is Disabled , I Homeschool my 3 children , Have this blog and Run an At Home Business ! I also  Write and I am working on a book !

What are your duties ? On a daily basis there is a lot to do !

We will talk about Planners, Scheduling and Doing all things well another day !

13709888_10154381830893147_1056331176361614004_n

Stop Feeling Worthless !

Proverbs 31:30-31 says “But a woman that feareth the Lord , She shall be praised. Give her the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.”

If you are known for those good things y0u do or say that are virtuous

You are Worthy and Honorable !

So What if You’re a Failure !

11188351_10153493064248147_7396028751824172219_n

So you failed… Big Deal !

It’s not about Perfection, It’s About Progress !

We all fail daily and often times then not miserably at many things in life ! Is it the end of the world ?  No !  Can it change your life forever ? Yes , it can !  We all make less then good choices daily that effect the rest of our life in some cases.  They also effect those around us that we love. Sometime we can correct them and sometimes we can’t and just have to live with the consequences of our choices !

What is Excellence ?

Today: The quality of being outstanding or extremely good.

Synonyms: distinction, quality , superiority, preeminence, supremacy, skill, talent, virtuosity, accomplishment, mastery.

Do you see how the definition has changed ?

Archaic : An outstanding feature or quality.

From being one of something about you or a quality or character you posses to being something more you attain or do !

It definitely is something that set you apart from others !

How is it Measured ?

In most cases it is measured by how successful you are… or in the things you own or have attained in life. If one is successful it is often said  they are ” Living the Life “.  They may have a huge house,  drive a new car, have an RV, take vacations several times a year and have money to do all that.  And these are the things that make them happy in life !  The sad thing is that in reality happiness does not have anything to do with “stuff”.

 I have often said

” I would rather be poor and happy, then rich and have nothing of real value “

Placing value in things that don’t last really doesn’t bring about happiness. It is but a fleeting momentary pleasure.

Happiness is a mental or emotional state of well-being defined by positive or pleasant emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy.

It is in things that are lasting and not fading that we find contentment and great joy in life.

But godliness with contentment is great gain. I Timothy 6:6

Are you content ? How do you measure excellence ?

What in your life brings you happiness ?

Who Sets the Standard ?

The Government ?  The World ? The Church ?  You ? or God ?

The Government thinks that they can dictate a standard of what Excellent in standard for schooling children or adults.  Sad thing is they offer no standard of excellence in the welfare system, that allows many who could work to sit and not work and still maintain a standard that they say is the least one should live in …

The World seems to set a standard of what they think is Excellence or a standard for Success and what it means. By owning or doing certain things you can attain that standard of living and find real joy they say… I don’t buy into that !

The Church is so worldly and the world so churchy… you can hardly see the difference right ?   How do you tell the difference ?  The same folks you see in church are the same ones you see at the bar, smoking, drinking, being unfaithful to their spouses  and living to excess of riot, which  isn’t suppose to be the case in those claiming  to be ” Christians”

Everyone has their certain set standard of being a success or living the Excellent way..What is yours ?   Whats Mine ? Do they measure up to God’s ?

God’s measure for Excellence…sounds huge, daunting at times doesn’t it… but is it ?  Or do we just think that it entails a ton of rules and don’ts ?  Let’s look at this OK…

The word translated “excellent” in the New Testament comes from the Greek word diaphero, which literally means “to transport” or “to differ”  It has also been translated  as best, vital , the better things and  the highest and best. The Hebrew word translated “excel” is alah meaning ” to ascend.”   (taken from the book ” Becoming a woman of Excellence “) words used to encourage us ” to carry above the norm ” or “to be different” thru the qualities of virtue and goodness.  I like the way Cynthia puts that in this study…

Are we willing to go on to that which is considered above the normal standard of  Excellence ?

How we Fail at Becoming Women of Excellence !

In Ruth 3:11  Ruth is considered to be known as ” A Woman of Excellence”.

She is in my own words Bold, unafraid, fearless and she waited upon the Lord for what was her portion in life.

Are you those things ?  Do you walk without fear ? Are you Bold as you wait upon the Lord’s blessings in your life ?  or are you discontent and unhappy ?

You get up and you see yet another mess your teenagers left and your whole morning just goes wrong…. this was me… they left dirty dishes, it seems like no one cares if Mom has to get up to a sink full after going to bed.  So you go to your computer and set out to blog (its summertime) Your taking a break from homeschooling and your hubby is at work and you wish he was home helping you care for those kids !

You just don’t know where to start things are so messed up.  ( I’m walking it, except my husband is home 24/7 as he is disabled. Mental Illness isn’t easy.. I have a lot of sisters in the Lord who are walking it with me )  He isn’t happy that he can’t do all those things he use to do  ?  His memory is failing as he ages (he’s only 55 )  He doesn’t handle stress well at all and sorry but having teens means “stress” as they figure out who in the world they are…God knows even when they don’t, but they think your as old as dirt and how could you possibly know what they are going through or feeling right ?  You have a son who is 8 who just wants a brother to play with who can keep up with him….(sometimes in large families, Mom gets past the age of childbearing but still has young ones)

Wow I remember those days I longed for another baby, those days I miscarried so many times and now you full well know that “God gives you no more then you can bare”  and finally, you are at that content stage in life where “grandchildren are your most precious blessing !”

What ? Your family is so dysfunctional and you don’t do things together or your older kids live out of state and you hardly see them ?   Or you have some walking with the world and your not sure when they will turn to God in full surrender… but you pray, because praying is all you can do , because they won’t allow you into their life… perhaps they were from a previous marriage and are bitter about your choice to break free of a bondage of an alcoholic abusive ex spouse…  But they pick sides and man that really tares at your heart !

Whatever your stress may be have you found contentment in just knowing that God has it all under control ?   Oh yes he does !  He knows  your heartache, your fears , your tears and your limits….

I don’t care if your rug looks like you could start this years seedlings and grow your garden in it….He Is There !!!  (Tore the rugs out years ago)

I know….it seems like the evil one is trying so hard to ruin your life and your family…

I know your pain…

I have days i cry and days I laugh about it… but failure is some standard we set that we all seem to think holds us in bondage to being less then what God wants us to be…When in reality, God just wants your heart, even when times seem the hardest…

Join me Tomorrow , Lord willing to  talk about

Wow, Your a Repeated Failure : How we Attain Excellence !

Miracles from Heaven ~ Movie Review

images

Anna Beam (Kylie Rogers) lives with a rare, incurable disorder that leaves her unable to digest food. Despite the dire diagnosis, devoted mom Christy (Jennifer Garner) relentlessly searches for a way to save her beloved daughter. Everything changes in an instant when Anna tells an amazing story of a visit to heaven after surviving a headlong tumble into a tree. Her family and doctors become even more baffled when the young girl begins to show signs of recovering from her fatal condition.

Wow, what a touching story !  As most of us we hate to see a child suffering with illness and this story just grabs your heart and takes you into the reality of it. Be sure to have a box of tissues handy ! Being the mom of a type 1 diabetic son,  I can sure related to what it feels like to be in the hospital waiting for Dr’s to tell you what is wrong with your child. It is heart wrenching to say the least.  I knew right where she was at when her daughter wanted to just have things be over with.  Each time that my son struggled with being diabetic and hated doing shots just tore my heart and made me ache for what the rest of his life would be like.  I am proud to say that my son is now 26 , A wonderful father and a great daddy !   It is not that often that we hear of someone being healed, but when it does happen it is a great and mighty testimony of God working in the lives of those that love Him.

Do you think your loved ones not being healed is due to your sin  ?  Has someone told you that someone in your lives has sinned and that this is the reason for no healing ?  I have to say that this movie will show you just the opposite and that God is a Loving and Awesome God !

This movie just may change your life !

How Do I Love Thee by Jennifer Flanders

13221526_10154207959013147_6929445791576227097_n

I must say I was very excited to be chosen to do this review , as I had often admired Mrs. Flanders website. Her website is educational and informative for the godly christian woman seeking to be a blessing to her family. She truly exemplifies what it means to be a crown to her husband, a godly wife and mother.  In the days we live in I find her life to be refreshing and encouraging to me and I am sure it is to many others as well.  This devotional is a wonderful testimony to her desire to share godly womanhood with younger women and in so doing bring honor to the Lord Jesus Christ !

It is not often that you find a woman who will boldly stand for what is biblical and right in today’s society.  I am happy and blessed to call Jennifer, not only my friend but my sister in the Lord !

My First Impression is what a lovely gift for a Bride to be !
Add some pens, markers or colored pencils and they make a
wonderful gift and a personal addition to your families heritage !
One can color and make them very personal artwork for years
to come in the family !!! Very Nice !!!

As on her blog Jennifer has poured her heart and belief into
these Journals. Each page is filled with wisdom and thoughtfulness
that a young or older wife can fill with love to share with her family
in later years. A true Heritage in how their family began and the times
shared between a husband and wife as they grow together in Grace !

I would very highly recommend this as a bridal shower gift , a wedding
gift or a gift for a young ladies hope chest on a special birthday perhaps.
Also a special anniversary gift for a lady friend would be nice. There is just so
very much included. A place to share before married life through each learning
experience in ones marriage.

What a blessing to future generations of women in godly families !
A Lasting Treasure !

As you can see these pages make for a great devotional, a study and one could easily color in the pictures to make them a work of art !

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and author for my
honest and unbiased review. I applied for this review through BookCrash.

My Review

Having been married a few times from the age of 19 to the present, this book really sounded of interest. We all have issues, hang ups and addictions. Some good , some not so good and some bad. The key is how to find happiness and how to make others and ourselves happy.  Marriages are not always happy. Marriage is Work ! It is not the meeting of two perfect people, it is the meeting and mixing of two imperfect people .  It is the relationship of those two people loving, forgiving and living.  Each with their own likes, loves and faults.  So how do we become happy ?  How do we make our marriage happy ?  How do we see beyond the things that drive us nuts about or mates and see them for their inner self and learn to love them for who they are ?

When I started reading Making Happy I was sceptical at best. Life is not all sunshine and roses !  But as I read I saw things that really made sense to me and may make sense to you too !  If being happy is one of your goals

( and it should be for everyone) you will want to read  ” Making Happy”.

I liked their friend Gary Thomas the Author of Sacred Marriage,  Question

” What if God designed Marriage to make us Holy, instead of  Happy ? “

That really is the point of life. When God says Be ye Holy, for I your God am Holy… I think he meant it and that is his goal for us in this life.

In “Making Happy” you will learn about happiness boosters for couples.

Count Your Blessings

Try New Things

Dream a Dream

Celebrate Each Other

Attune Your Spirits

Add Value to Others

Overcoming the Biggest Hurdles to Happiness as a Couple

You will learn a 3 week happiness plan to help you really learn to be happy in life and your marriage.

I really enjoyed ” Making Happy”, it showed me things that I had not thought of . It really inspired me to not give up and always try harder at relationships.  It also inspired me to always seek the Lord and never think things are impossible.  Now there are those folks that can never be happy, but I think if you give this wonderful book a try, you might just find that place called Happiness ! You might even find a way to have some Hot Monogamy !

I would highly suggest this book to anyone looking to improve their marriage. To Couples looking for a study to get them out of a rut. Maybe even to an adult Couples Group ! It is sure to inspire you on to Happiness in Marriage and in Life !
